Nervous System; Somatic Magic

Your nervous system isn't just about fight or flight - it's the electrical system through which your magic flows, your intuition speaks, and your sovereignty expresses."

Let's begin where we always begin - in your body.

Take a breath. Feel what's here. Another breath. Call your energy back to center. Notice where you are, exactly as you are - regulated, unregulated, embodied, disembodied. It's all welcome. Just notice what you notice.

The Electric Temple

Your body is more than just flesh and bone - it's an intricate electrical system, a crystalline network of light and energy. We are, quite literally, electrical meat suits running on divine current. Your nervous system is the infrastructure through which this electricity flows - your brain, spinal cord, and the complex network of nerves that animate your entire being.

But here's what most nervous system teachings miss: this electrical system isn't just about survival. It's the very channel through which your magic flows, your intuition speaks, and your sovereignty expresses. When we understand how to work with this system - how to regulate it, how to ground it, how to let it carry more charge - we unlock deeper access to our innate power and wisdom.

Beyond "Being Grounded"

Let's debunk a common misconception right away: the goal isn't to be "grounded" all the time. That's actually impossible, and it wouldn't serve us even if it were possible. Imagine being completely zen while a real threat approaches - that wouldn't be helpful at all!

Your nervous system's job is to keep you alive and help you thrive. Sometimes that means being activated. Sometimes that means shutting down. Sometimes that means being in social engagement. All states serve a purpose.

The real goal is having access to all of your nervous system states when they're appropriate. It's about building capacity and resilience rather than trying to force yourself into some idealized state of permanent calm.

Understanding Your Nervous System States

Your nervous system operates in three main modes, each with its own purpose and wisdom:

1. Social Engagement (Human Nervous System)

- This is our most evolved state

- Allows for connection, creativity, and collaboration

- Feels safe, curious, and open

- Enables true co-regulation with others

2. Fight/Flight (Mammalian Nervous System)

- Our active response to threat

- Enables protection and boundary-setting

- Can feel angry, scared, or hypervigilant

- Also enables healthy activation and exploration when regulated

3. Freeze/Shutdown (Reptilian Nervous System)

- Our oldest survival response

- Protective when overwhelm is too much

- Can feel numb, foggy, or disconnected

- Has a healthy expression in rest and digest

Each of these states can be either regulated (healthy) or dysregulated (threat response). The key is not avoiding any state but understanding what each one is telling us and how to work with it.

For the Magical Ones

If you're reading this- you're likely what we call a "Ferrari brain" - someone whose nervous system is more finely calibrated, more sensitive to energy and stimuli than most. This isn't a flaw - it's what allows you to do deep magic, create powerful art, and understand things that others miss.

But like a Ferrari, you need:

- Special maintenance

- Premium fuel

- Extra care and attention

- The right conditions to perform optimally

This sensitivity is your superpower, but it means you need to be extra mindful of:

- Sensory overwhelm

- Environmental impacts

- Energy regulation

- Rest and recovery

Remember: it's no measure of health to be well-adjusted to a profoundly sick society. If you find yourself overwhelmed by "normal" life, it might be because what's considered normal isn't actually healthy for anyone.

Practical Magic for Your Nervous System

Let's explore two foundational practices for working with your nervous system:

1. Shake and Sway

This practice helps discharge excess energy and regulate your system:

- Start with gentle shaking in your hands

- Let it spread through your whole body

- Shake for about 30-60 seconds

- Transition to gentle swaying

- End with self-touch and grounding

2. Orienting

This practice helps you return to safety and presence:

- Look around your environment slowly

- Notice what catches your interest

- Describe one object in detail

- Let your attention move naturally

- Notice how your body responds

Both practices work whether you're activated or shut down - they help your system find its natural balance.

Earth as Medicine

Here's something profound yet practical: your nervous system can co-regulate with the Earth itself. The Earth has its own frequency (called the Schumann Resonance), and when we're in contact with it, our bodies naturally attune to this healing rhythm.

This isn't just spiritual teaching - it's backed by science.

Direct contact with the Earth:

- Reduces inflammation

- Lowers stress hormones

- Regulates blood pressure

- Helps balance our electrical system

This is especially important for those of us working with higher frequencies and spiritual energies. Just as an electrical circuit needs grounding to prevent overload, our bodies need regular contact with the Earth to help us integrate and stabilize the magical currents we're working with.

Your Invitation

For the next week, I invite you to:

1. Notice your nervous system states without judgment

2. Practice Shake and Sway daily

3. Orient to your environment regularly

4. Make direct contact with the Earth

5. Honor your sensitivity as strength

Remember: Your nervous system isn't something to "fix" - it's the very infrastructure through which your magic flows. The more you understand and work with it, the more capacity you have for the work you're here to do.

You're not too sensitive - you're calibrated exactly right for the magic you're here to bring.
